A beautiful homage to Australia’s foray into Art Deco

Kimpton Margot Sydney is not exactly the kind of boutique hotel we would usually peg – it smells a great deal like its parent IHG, is a bit large, a bit glam, a bit too chain hotel.

BUT, we’ve included it here because of its surprising dedication to the Art Deco design genre. And considering the heart of the CBD in Sydney is all a bit vintage Deco, we’ll let it off for its shortcomings and celebrate the aspects of it that are quite boutiquey.

Like its beautiful subway-tiled bathrooms, its Mr. Smith amenities, curated in-room playlists and its Swiss Trade yoga mat on request.

The Wilmot Bar is the right place to play like it’s 1930 and the rooftop pool is a delightful bonus.

Our Mini-Itinerary of Recommendations for Your Stay at Kimpton Margot Sydney

Hmmm, in-house Wilmot Bar would be are first and last stop on the Kimpton Margot Sydney hospo journey, unless we were poolside.

Skip the breakfast-inclusive room rate and wander up to The Grounds of the City or Pablo & Rusty’s for your coffee/first bite of the day.

Jimmy’s Falafel is an essential 15min walk north.

Again, we’re in Merivale territory, but this time its MuMu or wine/bite, Bar Totti’s. Alternatively, slick Greek restaurant Alpha or essential Japanese experience, Haco a little south.

Diehard pastaphiles will have a 11min opportunity to walk it off at Palazzo Sato.

Why Stay at Kimpton Margot Sydney?

Well, as we said: the beaut deco vibe, especially the bathrooms, and the rooftop pool. Great location too if you need to be in the CBD.
